Plants as Art: Mounting One on the Wall

Looking to add more plants to your home? Or maybe something with a lot of visual interest for your walls? This is a quick and inexpensive project!

SUPPLIES

You can most likely get all of your supplies from your local greenhouse or hardware store (Home Depot, etc). And of course, you can simply do a search on Amazon.

Picture Hanger

2 long nails (about 2” - 2 1/2” each)

Fishing line

Jute

Wood board

  • I had an old one lying around in my garage. If you don’t, you can buy a cedar plank, or just buy a piece of wood and have them cut it down to the length you want at the store. If you prefer the look of natural bark, you can use Cork Bark (which you can find at a garden store or on Amazon).

Fern

  • Any plant in the Epiphytic family will work. Those are the plants that grow on trees and get their nutrients from the air and soil/debris around them. You’ve most likely seen Stag Horn ferns mounted this way, but any fern will work! I’m using a Bird’s Nest fern in this video.

Moss

  • I used preserved moss (I like the green color) but you can also use sphagnum moss.
